PILOT REFORESTATION PROJECT IN NAIVASHA, KENYA (Journal)

Margrethe van Heeswijk, (WorldLife Foundation) - The kick off for WorldLife’s pilot project took place on Saturday the 26th of November 2011 in Naivasha. Naivasha is a market town in the Rift Valley Province in Kenya, lying north west of Nairobi. It is located on the shore of Lake Naivasha and along the Nairobi – Nakuru highway and Uganda Railway. Carol van Gelder - Miano, (WorldLife Foundation) - In February 2012 WorldLife will be embarking on the next series of reforestation projects in Kenya. We will be collaborating with 10 primary and secondary schools in each of the following areas:

PARTNERING TO GREEN KENYA
Margaret Otieno, (CEO WCK and Secretary of the board of WorldLife Kenya) - Kenya is a semi-arid country. Less than two percent of the nation is covered by what is known as high or closed canopy forest. Kenya is predominantly arid or semi arid land (ASAL), with 80% of national land mass being so classified. The minimal rainfall/water for irrigation limits the survival rates of trees planted in these regions. Green Kenya
